Client: Private | Completed 2024 | Architect: Brod Wight Architects

The family were undertaking major renovations led by Brod Wight Architects, with the new garden as an integral part of the design. Previously, the garden was laid mostly to lawn with traditional box hedging and a terrace adjacent to the house. My clients were ready for something new, ready to lose the lawn, increase the planted areas and embrace a garden that encouraged a journey into the garden spaces.

Curving pathways immersed in layers of planting and bound by a flowing drystone wall lead through the garden to a series of places to sit, cook, entertain, work and relax surrounded by sculptural and meadow like planting and the gentle sound of water from the trough. A garden not simply to look at, a place ‘to be’
